Get The Word Out - Press Relese - TV - Or On Air

PR releases have the potential, to make way for some really awesome exposure, looking outside the linking benefits, a well written press release may land you in papers, Television, and radio. Over-all it can potentially make you a real authority in your given market. I often write quick content daily for websites, but when something really doesn’t come to mind for a good subject, I just turn to some back reports, online papers or do a  search for inspiration. Quite frequently top results that are found while doing a search are publicity releases or, news items feeding from many different aggregators or other news sources. A number of these releases encourage me, and maybe you too, but others are empty promotion with nothing relevant to me or anyone else that has have a brain. Here  are some tips that I can share on the making of a great press release, but what do I know I’m not a professional writer…. I just do this stuff for SEO benefit and the backlink capabilities. Remember it’s bad ass seo that I do not bad ass writing. but you probably figured that out already….

Know your reader

Balance between writing for the target audience ( paper reader, radio listener, web-surfer ) and writing for an editor, journalist or news hounds who may take up your subject or reprint the story should be a focus if your into this type of thing. Hooking both the media and the end consumer will end in a snowball of PR. Remember, a journalist scanning a Press source will make choices based mostly on the initial few words of each article. Pack the opening with the hot subject points and juicy details.

Style A powerful subject or headline area. Don’t forget the introduction is critical. It must clearly and most definitely (I just had to put that in) capture the center of somebody skimming the release and provoke an emotional response to keep the person reading further reading. Hit them over the freaking head with the important points and factual data first. Then you can explain where it comes from and why it’s there. If your Press release is a hit you’ll be getting telephone calls and emails asking questions faster than you know it. It’s feasible to build or destroy credibility based on your accuracy and how you are actually reporting on something, so don’t screw it up… haha.  You can actually become a source for different correspondents as you build on your record of data and accuracy on the subject matter. This should go without saying but, if you use outside stats and facts, include the source and be sure to site it. The promotional release should build confidence excitement and emotion, depending on the goal in mind.

Grammar and spelling should be checked and rechecked. Read it, edit and re-read, print it out, read again, e-mail to mates for corrections, give yourself many opportunities to catch mistakes. Then don’t rush to publish. Reading something again after a night’s sleep is always an eye opener for me. Something about my focus in the writing process tunes out blunders that jump off the page the subsequent day. this is the reason why an additional set of eyes, or waiting until your eyes are taking a fresh look can make a huge difference in the writing quality. Printing a copy to read also helps you see it differently. Attach pictures if the release publisher permits it. If you have image rights or public domain pictures to make public then this is another way to make your content serviceable by others. Authorization concerning quotes is significant as well inside a public relations release since the exposure can be important. Anatomy of a standard press release headline should have some type of hook or eye catching factor to it.

Make the viewers that be wonder where they stand or curious about an outcome. As an example, “Are you a lunatic?” Research may surprise you! Some PR publishers permit an outline after the headline. This is a second opportunity to grab attention and beat them over the head with it. Seriously really kick them in the teeth if you can. Make it powerful and to the point. Date Instructions – capitals are typically used FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FOR RELEASE BEFORE (this date) or (after this time) and don’t forget your contact info. Make everything as straightforward and practical as possible. Writers may work weird hours, so be sure to give a number where you may be available to answer night and day.

These are the basics and I hope they help. Be sure to check back often and be sure to leave me a comment and tell me what you want to really hear about. Heck if you ask a really good question you may get an entire lesson for free… I just sayin. Knowledge is power and I have plenty of it. Let me share some it with you.
